How to read Chord Diagrams

Diagram below show illustration chord located on part of guitar fretboard.

Diagram above show ullustration of guitar fretboard with chord,show only 1^st fret to 5^th fret.It’s easy to understand how to read chord from the diagram.Chord above is open positon chord,that use notes in open string as a note’s chord.

Firstly,look at black dot on line of digram.The 3 dot above represent notes of chord.Example ebove chord is C major which have triad notes A-C-E.Three dots represent all three triad notes in these chord.Actually,on these dot have labelled with number,number of finger to hold it.But,in this diagram i did not put it because,you can choose your suitable finger to hold the chord.If you choose wrong finger to hold the chord,you will experience awkward.The number on left fretboard represent number of fret.Diagram above show 1,3 & 5,mean fret position.

How to play this chord ? strum or pluck ? depend on you.If you want strum,strum only string smoothly without disturbing muted string,’X’ sign.If you want to pluck,pluck cleanly,whether unitone or ditone(pluck 2 notes simultaneously).Pluck cleanly and hold strongly the chord with your right hand,(left if lefthanded).

Tips for Beginner

For beginner guitar player,it is important thing to play rhythm guitar is remember all the basic chord such as Major,minor,diminished,Major 7,minor7 and etc.Yout should know chord position on guitar fretboard,and how to hold it strongly.To get clean sound while playing,you should hold the chord with yout strong finger.It’s important thing to play guitar your finger must be strong.If not ? doing a fingering exercise to build strength of your finger become harden when play chord or scales.

You can also practise chord progression to harden your finger,changing the chord very fast with clean strum or pluck is best exercise for beginner.If you do this exercise regularly,you eyes have no longer look to the guitar fret.This show your finger are familiar with position of chord position.

There are many pattern of chord that u find.In website or book,The chord usually open position chord.This chord easy for beginner that has less finger strength to hold chord.For beginner,i suggest to practice open position chord first,then,when your finger strength become increased,you can start practice barre chord.For beginner,to hold barre chord is complicated,because barre chord involve first finger hold multiple notes on fretboard in parallel fret,like diagram below
