Introduction
Add chord is a chord which an extra note are added.Additional note can be 2nd 4th or 9th .This chord is written like Cadd2.mean C major chord are added by 2nd note from C major scale.Note added written by number,number represent index of scale of the note that added that associated with C major chord.
Commonly,add chord like add2,add4,add9 is added to original triad chord.New chord has 4 notes,no longer can say triad,chord but quadrad !.Add 2 same with add9 because same additional notes involve,but 9th note have a higher octave compared with 2nd .
Add use usually major chord,some has minor,minor add chord is written like madd2 or madd6.Example,build Cadd2 from C major chord.C maj triad are C-E-G,and C major scale,C,D,E,F,G,A,B.In this scale,D note is 2nd !.Thus,D note should be added into C-E-G triad become C-E-G-D.Cmajor & Cadd2 do not have much of a different,when you play song,or create chord progression,play Cadd2 chord give more melodious compared to C major.
